Bike Devil’s Week on Two-Wheels: 17 February 2020

Well, Valentine’s Day is over for another year – what did you buy your loved one – a new exhaust, a top box, some carbon fibre goodies or some new brake levers?

We start the update this week with the news that both Harley and Indian have brought out some super-specced-up limited-run touring machines, with some super-high-prices! There must have been something in the air…

Indian Motorcycle introduced the new 2020 Roadmaster Elite – costing nearly more than £10k than it’s ‘Dark Horse’ brother, the £35,499 Elite has a new colour scheme (finished by hand don’t you know…), new 19-inch front wheel, three rider modes, new ‘PowerBrand Audio Plus’ system and Indian’s Ride Command System. It’s powered by Indian’s 1890cc Thunder Stroke 116 engine and it’s packed with all the sorts of things you’d expect like heated leather seats, keyless ignition, ABS, heated grips and a ton of storage -140 litres to be exact.

Harley-Davidson revealed the new CVO – that’s Custom Vehicles Operation by the way – Road Glide. It has the CVO-exclusive 117 cubic inch 1923cc V-Twin engine, special spoked wheels, a unique spoiler and a funky paint scheme. It’s got a ‘Boombox’ infotainment system with a matching Bluetooth helmet headset to connect you with the bike and manage the system with voice commands – swish hey! Prices start at £33,995. So, it doesn’t matter whether you’re an Indian Motorcycle or Harley-Davidson fan, there’s something new for you!

A date for your diary – Kawasaki is holding their annual open evening in dealers around the country – dubbed ‘Green Friday’ – it’s a chance to see the full 2020 range in dealers. The event is by registration only so it’s worth taking a look on their website and bagging your spot. You will also be put into a draw for some prizes too – including: a five-day ticket to Kawasaki Days with Dragon MotoTours, a pair of WSBK VIP tickets and a Kawasaki jacket. Check out www.kawasaki.co.uk for more info.

Just 53 days to go until the first round of the BSB season kicks off – it’s been a long old winter and we can’t wait! Although we did have the news Friday that OMG Racing is now Rich Energy OMG Racing, after they revealed a one-off livery at the London Motorcycle Show. Apparently, it’s a long-term multi-million pound deal. OMG indeed.

The next MotoGP test is in Qatar this weekend, but Sam Lowes won’t be there due to injuring his shoulder in a private test in Jerez. Wishing him a speedy recovery! And here’s a belated Happy Birthday to Valentino Rossi – who celebrated his 41st birthday yesterday. Bet there was quite the party…

We can’t sign off without at least mentioning the rumbling Norton Motorcycle saga too…there have been hearings, allegations and ‘no comment’ interviews a-plenty… we’re sure that this will run on for a while. Our thoughts and best wishes continue to be with all those impacted.
